A 13-year-old girl was apprehended at her home in Tongaat, KwaZulu-Natal. The girl has been apprehended for the murder of her grandmother. The 63-year-old grandmother was discovered in a pool of blood on Monday by her neighbours that ran to her place when they heard screams.
The 63-year-old Idah Ngcobo was left with two of her grandchildren, while her husband went to the shops, when the assault happened at her home. The little girl who is a suspect was apprehended by officials on Tuesday and thus moved to a holding cell. The apprehension of the 13-year-old was acknowledged by the Colonel Thembeka, the police spokesperson. “We can confirm a 13-year-old suspect was arrested yesterday for murder,” says Colonel Thembeka Mbele. The girl is set to appear at the Verulam Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
The girl told the neighbours that she was supposedly outside hanging clothes on the washing line when she heard the 63-year-old screaming for help. She says that she ran to the house and saw a man that she doesn’t know battering her grandmother, who was seating on the sofa in the lounge. The woman was a victim to a stroke from last month, which means that she had limited movement. One of the neighbours says the 63-year-old suffered terrible injuries.
