This young man from Johannesburg might be too young but in the coding industry he is starting to be a big deal. Sifiso Nkabinde is a student from Sacred Heart College, he is a Grade 10 student at the school. The young coder has been deemed as one of the top 15 geeks in the South Africa. He was listed by Geekulcha, an organisation that promotes young people in Information Technology.

Sifiso Nkabinde is a huge deal because he is the youngest person to be on the list. His passion for the art of coding started when he was nine years old. He started coding because he wanted to control robotic equipment. The 15-year-old coder says he likes coding because it helps him get new skills that come with the new technology. The young man has been busy coming up with his own applications since he started coding at the age of nine.

He affiliated with the Sci-Bono Clubhouse in Newtown in Johannesburg so that he could sharpen his coding abilities. He met a person who worked for a huge tech organisation in the clubhouse, the person then made him love the art of coding and programming even more. He says he goes to the Sci-Bono Clubhouse twice a week so that he can enhance his coding abilities.

The 15-year-old coder says, “I have been trying to come up with several apps and when I go there, I get to work on them.” Sifiso also gets to network with other people in the IT industry. In 2018 he went to his first hackathon at the ITWeb Security Summit. His team got into third place and after that he went to numerous other hackathons such as the TadHack MTN hackathon.
