Officials supposedly discovered fraudulent bank statements, marriage certificates, car licence disks, asylum documents and fraudulent drivers’ licenses. The items were discovered at a backyard internet and printing café in Cape Town on Thursday. Traffic officials and police officials replied to issues that were raised on Thursday about fake documentation being given at home in Brooklyn.
Maxine Jordaan, a traffic services spokesperson, says they discovered a stash of fraudulent documents and R12 000. They confiscated the computers and the templates that ranged from medical certificates to identity documentation and salary slips. The traffic services spokesperson stated that an apprehension that one traffic officer made the day before because of a fake driver’s licence was connected. Maxine Jordaan says, “In August, the City’s metro police department made a similar bust in Gugulethu.” Siyabulela Malo, the Western Cape police spokesperson, says they had apprehended three guys ranging from the age of 27 to the age of 37.
The Western Cape police spokesperson stated that the three men would soon be in court for the charges of uttering and forgery.” On Thursday two men from the Western Cape appeared in court after they were apprehended for supposed fake vehicle licenses and corruption. The two men were apprehended at Port Elizabeth in Eastern Cape on Wednesday after they were allegedly connected to a syndicate that is processing fake vehicle roadworthy certificates.
