Any intimidation and threats against members of the SAPS by a member of the public is viewed in a very serious light by the court. This was once again realized when a 38-year-old accused was sentenced to three years imprisonment.
The 38-year-old Mzwamadoda Booysen went to the homestead of the complainant, Sgt Elliot Ntungwana and threatened to kill him and burn down his house and motor vehicle.
The complainant then opened a criminal case. The case was successfully investigated by D/Sgt Lwazi Poni.
On 09 June 2021, Booysen was found guilty at the Elliot Regional Court and yesterday Thursday, 5 August 2021 sentenced to undergo 36 months direct imprisonment.
The acting District Commissioner Brigadier Rudolph Adolph applauded the sentence as often SAPS members that work during operations are being intimidated and threatened in the small, rural towns.
