The acting District Commissioner Brigadier Rudolph Adolph and management lauded the efforts of the investigating officer D/Cst Hima Smith of the Aliwal North, Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit and the prosecution team that contributed to the hefty sentencing handed down to the 45 year old Mziwoxolo Mcimeli to life behind bars.
It is alleged that on the 21 September 2019 at about 21:00 the mother of the 10 year old victim left her at home and went to look for her boyfriend that was staying with them at Phola Park.
During the time that she went to look for him, the boyfriend, returned back to their home and raped the little girl and told her not to tell anyone.
Early the next morning the girl told her mother what happened and the suspect was arrested on the 22 September 2019.
He stayed in custody and did not receive bail due to the fact that he was already out on parole.
The accused was found guilty on the 13 May 2021 at the Sterkspruit regional court on the charge of rape he received life Imprisonment and the accused name be included in the National Registra of sex offenders.
Brig Adolph commended D/Cst Smith for her commitment, dedication and professional investigation and wished her well with her future endeavours to bring the perpetrators of the law to book.
