Zimbabwe has been having a scarcity of bread supplies. According to Zimbabwean media, some armed thieves robbing a bread delivery van in Harare and they walked away with an approximate number of 500 loaves of bread. The event happened on Friday when the van was delivering at a shopping centre in the Glen Norah suburb in Harare.
The lack of foreign money required to get wheat was the reason for the recent bread scarcity. The group of thieves defeated the van drivers before they could walk away with the loaves of bread. Bread is currently expensive in Zimbabwe’s informal market because of its scarcity.
The head of the Miller’s Association, Tafadzwa Musarara, says seven million US dollars has been delivered by Zimbabwe’s central bank so they can bring in wheat from Beira. Tafadzwa Musarara says the wheat should be enough to take care of the country for over two weeks.
