A woman from Vanderbijlpark in Gauteng became the first person in South Africa that has married herself. The lady, Rita Woodall-Terblanche, wedded herself on Saturday in a private event. The event was at the Riverside Sun Hotel conference centre, according to reports.
A person getting wedded to themselves, commonly known as sologamy, is not noticed under the law around the globe. However, the act of getting wedded to oneself has become the in thing around the world. Seven people came to the 63-year-old Rita Woodall-Terblanche’s event. The lady even bought herself a wedding band that fit her finger pretty well. She had a wedding band shaped like a horse hood and it also has yellow diamonds. The event was led by her friend, Leonie Gouws.
“I hereby promise that I, Rita Woodall-Terblanche, will love myself, take care of myself, care about myself, respect and above all else, be true to myself, to the best of my ability. I promise this in the name of almighty and present witnesses,” said the 63-year-old lady in her oath. The woman says that nobody can love a person as much as the person loves themselves. She never thought that she would get wedded again after her husband passed away three years back, according to her. She was married to her husband for 37 years.
