Born in Peddie in the Eastern Cape, Khanya made her TV debut as a youth show presenter on YOTV at the age of 14, where she remained for three years. She studied at AFDA in Johannesburg, achieving a BA degree in motion picture and television. As the only child of a single parent, Khanya was a top achiever at school and a skilled netball player. She got her first TV job as a Grade 10 learner and the performing bug bit.
Having earned her live broadcasting stripes, Khanya quickly moved onto other presenting gigs, such as the educational science show Knock Knock and Hectic Nine-9. In February 2013 she had a leading role on the second season of the SABC1 drama series Intersexions.She was the only actor to appear on the series on 5 episodes, making her the series’ leading lady.She received rave reviews from critics and her peers for her performance, once again proving that she is one to reckoned with. She hosted the red carper segment for the 2013 Mbokodo Awards and is also going to be the red carpet hostess for the upcoming Royalty Soapie Awards in 2014.
