SA Remembers Mama Winnie 1 Year After Her Passing. They also remember her for what she has done for females in South Africa and around the world.
Social media has been bombarded with messages of tribute to Winnie “Mama Winnie” Madikizela – Mandela. South Africans remember the struggle icon for what she has done for the country. They also remember her for what she has done for females in South Africa and around the world. The tribute is paid one year after her passing. Mama Winnie passed away last year on April 2.
Since the passing of the struggle icon, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has pushed for the Cape Town airport to be renamed after her. The leader of the party, Julius Malema, went to Mama Winnie’s gravesite at the Fourways Cemetery to pay his respects to the woman who shaped the nation. Advocate Dali Mpofu, the EFF national chairperson, went to visit Mama Winnie’s daughters.
Mpofu visited Zindzi and Zenani Mandela through a door-to-door visit this past weekend, he also stated that the EFF is probably going to get votes from them.Gwede Mantashe remembered the perfect leadership Mama Winnie gave to the African National Congress (ANC). Mantashe says, “She is one of those who would tell us exactly what is wrong and what is right at any time…you become an icon when provide that guidance. We will be missing that guidance.”
Social media also remembered her through the hashtags #WinnieMadikizelaMandela and #SheMultiplied. Mama Winnie” Madikizela-Mandela was a pillar of the South African nation. The ANC legend passed away last year on April 2 at the Netcare Milpark hospital in Johannesburg after she suffered from an illness. She passed away at the gracious age of 81. Last year people wore forks to commemorate her.
