Court Told That Witbank Mother Was Mentally Stable When She Murdered Her Four Children. The children’s bodies were discovered by the mother’s relatives.
A Witbank mother is charged with killing her four children is due to be in court. A number of mental assessment reports have approved that the mother who is reportedly responsible for poisoning her four children is not mentally unstable. The mother was charged in December 2018.
The children’s bodies were discovered by the mother’s relatives. The bodies were found in a locked backroom that she hired at the Klarinet area. National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson in Mpumalanga Monica Nyuswa said the results were given to the Witbank Magistrates Court on Monday. The 24-year-old parent was there for some time.
“The reports found that she is fit to stand trial,” says Monica Nyuswa.
Her lawyer, Jabulani Maphethe, asked the court to allow her to go for mental examinations. Maphethe said that it wasn’t possible for her to have been mentally aware of what she is claimed to have done. Zanele Maditla’s young ones were aged at around 11 months and eight years of age. Her family members stated that the bodies of Ethan, Shaniqua, Blessing and Minenhle were found after the mother told them that she reportedly had a gift for them at her house.
The children were discovered by the authorities on December 30. The bodies were already decaying by the time there were discovered. The four children were discovered, covered in blankets. It is claimed that the children were last seen on December 26. According to the funeral scheme, the children were thought to have passed away on 27 December.
Zanele Maditla gave herself to the authorities. She was sent to a hospital after some time. The authorities say she wasn’t physically stable at the time of her arrest.
