A multidisciplinary operation by the Hawks’ Head office and Durban Serious Organised Crime unit, Metro Police and Crime Intelligence landed three suspects in custody for the double murder of Metro Police officers who were fatally shot at Bhambayi, Phoenix.
On Monday, the two Metro officers were on duty when they were ambushed whilst they were inside their vehicle. The suspects made off with one policeman firearm.
The Hawks were immediately tasked with the investigation and on Wednesday evening, the team traced and apprehended three suspects following a brief confrontation with one of the suspects. The team retaliated in self-defence wounding the suspect and he is currently under police guard in hospital.
Investigations are still continuing.
