Yesterday’s (Sunday) episode of Date My Family was pretty different because of the bachelor. He was different because unlike other people on the show he didn’t have a fancy job or hustle. Collen Mamonyane is the 34-year-old bachelor from Pretoria, he is a taxi driver and sports coach at a school.
Tweeps loved the fact that he was proud of his “taxi operating” job. One tweep says, “we need more guys like this who are un (not) ashamed of their jobs.” One tweep says, “Taxi operators make over R1000 a day. Some of you will look down on this guy because you work in a fancy office for R7000 a month…It’s not just a matter of career preference. The average person wouldn’t even afford a Quantam if they wanted one.” One tweep says, “I love how this guy is proud of his job. There’s no point in being ashamed of what you doing for a living because there’s no one who’s gonna feed you when you are hungry.”
The first family he met was Aviwe’s family. When the family asked him what type of girl he is looking for he said that he wasn’t looking for a pretty woman. He shocked the family when he said he wants a woman who’s a 10% angel and 10% devil (the 80% was her being a hustler). He told them that he said that because he thought they would agree to everything he says. Then the most embarrassing thing happened, he saw a cockroach on his plate.
The second family was Thabisile’s family. When he first came into the house they realised his body size. He was intimidated by the family because he thought they were too serious. He also mocked their domestic abilities because he thought they were slay queens. The friends didn’t like him much when he told them he was a taxi driver.The suitor said that she can’t date a taxi driver. He said that he noticed that they drink a lot. One of the friends asked what type of driver he is, he told her that he is a 16-seater taxi driver. He also didn’t like the food because he thought they put too much spice.
The third family he met was Rumbidzayi’s family. When he first came in, the friend didn’t like the some of his features such as having a gold tooth. The suitor liked him because he likes the same things she does (church and working at a school). The friend doesn’t like the fact that he is a taxi driver. The asked him if he minds dating outside his own nationality, he said he doesn’t mind at all. The mother said that she likes him because he is down to earth. He ended up choosing Aviwe.
