A group of thieves robbed a Rolex watch off of an individual on Thursday. The incident took place in Fredman Drive in Sandton. The robbers couldn’t leave with their vehicle as it was hooked onto the victim’s toe-hitch.
The robbers thus robbed another person’s white VW Golf vehicle to use as a getaway vehicle. Several gunshots were heard at the scene. The people who witnessed the incident supposedly say that the police could not arrive 25 minutes later. According to some social media users, this is not the first time these thieves have robbed people. They allegedly know where each person with a Rolex watch is going to be, as there were other robberies of Rolex watches within this year. The group of thieves are referred to as the ‘Rolex Gang’.
On the 25th of November, a man was robbed at a McDonald’s at Boksburg. The police stated that the men caused the crime around day. One of the witnesses states that walked into the restaurant casually before one took out a knife. Constable Justice Ramaube, the police spokesperson, says one of the thieves had a knife to the victim’s neck, the other one grabbed his timepiece that is worth an estimate of R50 000. The guys then walked out of the restaurant casually, heading for a getaway vehicle that was waiting for them.
