As part of effectively dealing with drug trafficking, police in Brits have arrested two suspects aged 30 and 35 respectively for dealing in drugs.
The suspects’ apprehension at about 12:50 on Friday, 17 April 2020, came after police acted on an information regarding a suspicious activity by the pair at a parking lot of a certain grocery store in the area. It is alleged that upon arrival at the scene, the police found two suspects in a maroon Volkswagen microbus. A search which was conducted in the vehicle led to discovery of drugs and a large sum of money. Thus, the duo were arrested.
Furthermore, the police conducted another search at the suspects’ residential place in Oukasie Location just outside Brits where 71 pinches of nyaope, 22 live ammunition and cash were found. The latter brought to R58 317.20 the total amount of money found and seized from the suspects.
The two suspects are expected to appear before the Brits Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 20 April 2020. Investigation into the matter continues.
