DURBAN – In the early hours of 19 October 2020, police officers from the Verulam police station were alerted about two men who had been shot and killed in Station Road in Canelands and proceeded to the area. On arrival, they found two men both aged 30 with multiple gunshot wounds to their bodies. A docket with two counts of murder was opened for investigation.
When police commenced their investigation, it led them to an informal settlement where they arrested three men aged between 22 and 28. The suspects were taken to Verulam police station for processing. They were charged and are expected to appear at the Verulam Magistrate’s Court today. An investigation to link the suspects to other pending cases in the area is continuing.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula commended the police officers for swiftly responding to the incident which led to the arrest of the suspects.
