Our endeavours to strengthen relationship between police and communities in the fight against crime yielded good results and led to the arrest of four suspects yesterday in Manenberg, Kensington and Muizenberg.
Manenberg Crime Prevention Unit members arrested two men ages 15 and 20 last night for the possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition. The members conducted focused patrols in Erica court Manenberg as community complained of sporadic shooting in the area. Police saw men acting suspiciously as they saw the police vehicle patrolling. The police stopped and searched them and found a 9mm pistol with ammunition in their possession. Both suspects are expected to appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ court once they are charged.
In an unrelated matter, Kensington police acted on information last night in Glider Crescent Factreton Kensington where they found mandrax tablets, tik half ecstasy tablets. A 27-year-old man was arrested for possession of drugs and he is due to appear in court tomorrow.
Meanwhile, on Monday Muizenberg police followed up on information about drugs being sold in Vuyo road, Vrygrond. Police searched the premises and found 100 packets of tik. A male suspect aged 20 was arrested and appeared in court.
