POLOKWANE – The South African Police Service in Northam outside Bela-Bela are investigating a case of inquest after three children aged between 02 years and five months were burnt to death when their house caught fire while they were left alone at home.
It is alleged that on Saturday, 21 November 2020 at about 08:00, at Smasher block, Northam. A woman left three children alone to buy Food at the local shops, while on the way, she was informed that her house was burning. She ran back home and found the house in flames.
The police, fire fighters and emergency services were summoned to the scene and the mother alleged that they are three children in the house, they managed to remove the victims but unfortunately, all the boys were certified dead and identified as Sinenhlahla Tsotetsi aged five(05) months, Jabulane Tsotetsi aged two(02) and Katlego Mogale aged two(02) .
The cause of fire is still unknown at this stage but the ongoing police investigations will tell.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Major General Christine Morakaladi is saddened by the incident and urged the Parents to refrain from leaving children alone to prevent such incidents from happening in our province.
The police investigations are still continuing.
