ALIWAL NORTH – The determination of the SAPS to curb the dealing in drugs continued to yield results. This follows the arrest of a 51-year-old suspect for dealing in drugs.
It is alleged that on Saturday, 28 November 2020 at 07:15 members of the Aliwal North K9 Unit Sgt Schoeman, Cst Lebaka and Cst Diniso, were on duty performing crime prevention duties when they received positive information on a drug dealer.
The members immediately responded to the information and also requested the assistance from the POPS (Public Order Policing) members.
The identified house in Schalk Street Hilton was searched and drugs were found hidden in a speaker and pillow cases in the two bedrooms.
The members confiscated 146 mandrax tablets, 20 bags of tik to the value of R16 000-00 as well as a cash amount of R9353-00 and a pellet gun.
The suspect will appear in the Aliwal North magistrate’s Court on Monday 30 November 2020 on a charge of dealing in drugs.
The acting District Commissioner Brigadier Rudolph Adolph commended the members on the arrest and confiscation that will have an impact on the dealing in drugs that continues to stay a concern in our communities. He also thanked the community for the positive information provided. “If they take a stand against the drug dealers in the community that destroy our people’s lives we can make a difference in our towns,” he added
