JOHANNESBURG CENTRAL – On Monday, 25 July 2022 the Booysens Magistrates’ Court sentenced 33-year-old Andile Ncube to 75 years’ imprisonment on six counts that include charges of murder; attempted murder; robbery aggravating; possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The victim and a friend received a call to assist Ncube to transport his furniture from Turffontein to Hillbrow. Ncube and two accomplices accosted the victim and his friend upon their arrival in Turffontein and hijacked their vehicle.
A tracker signal was immediately activated which led the police to Hillbrow. A shootout between the police and the suspects ensued. One suspect died on the scene, while an injured Ncube was apprehended. The hijacked vehicle, an unlicensed firearm and ammunition were recovered.
The case was assigned to Sergeant Herbert Seroka, who is a detective attached to the Trio Investigation Team of SAPS Johannesburg Central. Seroka’s quality investigation ensured a water-tight case against the accused in court.
