Deputy President David Mabuza will on Thursday pay a courtesy call on Isilo Samabandla, His Majesty King Misuzulu Ka Zwelithini.
According to the Deputy President’s office, Mabuza will engage the Zulu King in his capacity as Chairperson of the Inter-Ministerial Task Team established to respond to matters raised by traditional and Khoi-San leaders.
The visit will take place at KwaKhangelamankengane Royal Palace, KwaNongoma, on Thursday, 6 October.
The courtesy call on His Majesty will precede an engagement the Deputy President will have with traditional leaders in KwaZulu-Natal on Friday, 7 October 2022, at Mayville Conference Centre in Durban.
“The engagement with traditional leaders is in line with government’s commitment to ensure support to traditional leaders so that they can fulfil their roles in the development of rural communities and the preservation of our heritage, among others,” the statement read.
The aim is to facilitate a social compact between government and the institution of traditional and Khoi-San leadership in addressing all matters of concern faced by traditional communities.
The Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, and KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Nomusa Dube-Ncube, will accompany the Deputy President.
The courtesy call on King Misuzulu by the Deputy President takes place a few weeks before the King’s coronation ceremony, which will take place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on 29 October 2022.
