Limpopo Premier Chupu Stanley Mathabatha and Health Minister, Dr Joe Phaahla, joined by Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba, are launching the Breast Cancer Awareness month, at Sekhukhune district in Limpopo.
In his State of the Province Address, Premier Mathabatha made a commitment to the people of Limpopo that all five districts will receive CT scans fitted with PACS RIS system.
Sekhukhune is the last district to receive this critical radiology equipment which goes a long way in reducing referrals to tertiary hospitals
The Premier also acknowledged that people in the rural areas die of breast cancer as a result of late diagnosis and commit that the department of health to ensure that all districts have mammogram machines.
The Sekhukhune district will be the second to receive the diagnostic equipment towards number two killer cancer disease amongst African women.
It is against this background that the leaders will be launching the October Breast Cancer Awareness month by commissioning and handing over these high technology equipment to the people of Sekhukhune in St Ritas hospital.
There will be Breast Cancer screening services at the event.
