The newly trained Constables that are deployed in the Amathole District have hit the ground running, and displayed their competence during proactive policing and crime prevention operations in curbing crimes during the busy festive season period in the Alice Central Business District.
Taking the lead, the Amathole District Commissioner, Maj Gen NN Xakavu and the Station Commander of SAPS Alice, Colonel SJ Qabaka, and the energetic new Constables painted the town blue, and stamped the authority of the State and enforcing the law.
Stop and search operations were conducted to ensure that all people in the CBD area are and feel safe.
A roadblock was conducted on R73 near the University of Fort Hare main campus for the safety of commuters and holiday makers using that route.
Police managed to confiscate dangerous weapons during these operations. Street vendors were also visited to ensure that they comply with the municipal by-laws.
