Today marks the release of their first single Umoya Kulendawo which is coupled by a video. After taking the Word, to the world, with the previous album Joyous Celebration 21: Heal Our Land, the Gospel powerhouse brings us its next offering, Joyous Celebration: All For You back home.
Recorded live at the Sandton Convention Centre last year, the first single Umoya Kulendawo alludes to the fact that Joyous Celebration have returned to the roots of their sound and style. As will be seen and heard on Umoya Kulendawo, the approach is reminiscent to that which can be heard in the early Joyous Celebration recordings.
After 22 consecutive years, it is obvious that Joyous Celebration remains the common denominator and destination for Gospel music fans’ needs. This is evidenced by the craze that Umoya Kulendawo, is causing since its release on all digital streaming and download platforms – with the video gaining over 1000 views an hour on You Tube.
This morning, the song debuted at number two on the South African iTunes’ Gospel Chart and number seven on the main iTunes Single Chart. Umoya Kulendawo is rapidly gaining momentum all over the world, with countries like Kenya placing it at number 6 on the iTunes Single Chart.
The release of Umoya Kulendawo, is only the beginning for the overachieving choir as more is to come before their big Easter performances taking place at Carnival City on 30, 31 March and 01 April 2018.
