Maletswai Detective Service are investigating a case of possession of drugs after a male suspect aged 45 was arrested.
It is alleged that on Monday 14 September 2020 in the evening, members of Aliwal North Operational Command Center (OCC) were on duty busy enforcing Disaster Management Act and routine duties around Maletswai precinct when they acted swiftly on a community tipoff alleging that a male suspect is selling drugs at Bantu street Maletswai area.
The members then followed up the information and upon arriving at the said place they searched the identified male suspect and drugs were found inside his pockets.
He was arrested and detained at police cells waiting for his first appearance in court.
Two button bags of crystal meth (Tik) were confiscated.
The same suspect was arrested last week by Aliwal North OCC for the same offence possession of drugs.
The acting District Commissioner Brigadier Rodolph Adolph applauded the quick reaction by OCC members in ensuring that the suspect is put behind bars. “We have no tolerance for drugs in our district,” he said.
