Excellent teamwork between Gqeberha Flying Squad and SAPS Algoa Park led to the successful apprehension of a 24-year-old suspect after information was received of a suspect involved in theft out of a motor vehicle case.
It is alleged that today 3 May 2022 at approximately 12:00 the complainant reported at SAPS Algoa Park that his vehicle a Nissan NP200 LDV was broken into at a local retail shop in Algoa Park. The complainant alleged that two electronic devices were stolen out of his vehicle. Gqeberha Flying Squad and SAPS Algoa Park members followed up on information and the suspected getaway vehicle, a silver Renault, was spotted in Green Street, North End and when the suspect noticed the police, he attempted to flee into the harbour but was unable to enter the port due to the access control. The Flying squad members managed to block off the vehicle and arrested a 24-year-old suspect. The suspected stolen electronic devices were recovered.
The suspect will be detained on charges of theft out of motor vehicle and will appear in the New Brighton magistrate court during the week. The vehicle that the suspect was driving at the time of committing the offence was also impounded.
