Two ill clients passed away when they were impacted by a car while they were in ambulance. The ambulance was impacted at Lebowakgomo in Limpopo during the weekend. The Limpopo Health Department released a statement about the matter on Monday.
The Limpopo Health Department spokeperson, Neil Shikwambana, says the clients were being taken from Lebowakgomo Hospital to the Polokwane Hospital. The Limpopo Health Department spokeperson says, “The ambulance collided with a vehicle that was allegedly travelling at a high speed and failed to stop at a traffic light in the Polokwane CBD. One patient died on impact, leaving one patient and the EMS crew critically injured.”
The other client died because of her wounds at the health institution. The MEC for Limpopo health, Phophi Ramathuba, expressed his sorrow about the event that had occurred. He said that “these patients met their untimely deaths while en route to receive treatment in order to improve their health.”
The department gave the families of the two crash victims their condolences. They also hoped that their employees heal from their injuries. The car that hit the ambulance was apparently speeding and failed to stop at the stop sign, therefore hitting the ambulance.
