In order to stymie the scourge of drugs affecting our communities, continuous efforts must be made by law enforcement to clamp down on traffickers and dealers.
The communities play a major role in assisting police to confront the abuse and illegal dealing of drugs. At about 00:15 this morning, Saturday, 24 July 2021, Anti-Gang Unit members and Gqeberha Flying Squad executed a search warrant at a house in Jameson Road in Shauderville. A 46-year-old alleged gang member was arrested while trying to flee from an outbuilding at the back of the house. He was found in his possession of various types of drugs which included 47 packets of tik, 68 rolls of dagga, a bag containing loose dagga, 47 drug capsules (type of drug still to be verified) as well as unknown drug powder, two scales and cash. The total estimated value of the drugs and cash is R11 135-00.
He was detained on charges of dealing in drugs and possession of drugs. He is expected to appear in the Gelvandale magistrates’ court on Monday, 26 July 2021.
