WESTERN CAPE – In pursuit of a safer environment for the people of this province, members of the Flying Squad were doing crime prevention patrols in Cross Roads last night when their attention was drawn to a suspicious VW Up. Upon pursuing the vehicle, the driver stopped and opened fire at police.
The members retaliated and the suspect was subsequently wounded in his leg, and arrested in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol. The vehicle was searched and the registered owner of the VW Up was found in the boot, with his passenger on the back seat.
