Two suspects aged 20 and 21-year-old were arrested at a local hospital last night (9/05) soon after an alleged botched robbery of an e-hailing taxi driver.
It is alleged that on 9 May 2020 at about 19:45, the 47-year-old driver went to an address in Alexander Road in Newton Park to pick up a client. When he stopped at the given address, two males got into the back seat. One of the male’s tried to strangle him with a piece of rope from the back. The complainant fought back and the suspect fired a shot through the seat, hitting him on the shoulder. The complainant fired back at the suspects who got out and ran away.
While busy on the scene, police received information that two males were at the hospital with gunshot wounds. The suspects, one with a gunshot wound in his chest and the other with a gunshot wound in his arm were arrested. Suspects are from Shauderville.
They are expected to appear in court soon on charges of attempted robbery and attempted murder.
