South Africans have been reacting in different ways to a photo of Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha at an event. The photo showed the notorious gqom artist being quite thin. The image went viral thus putting her and Mampintsha at the top of the trends list on Wednesday.
While social media users were voicing out their concerns about the issue, celebrities also showed that they were worried and hoped better for the Gqom artist. Cassper Nyovest says, “Babes is still an amazing talent. Her personal issues have only ruined her name but not her talent. That, you can never take from her. That girl is and forever will be a superstar. I would still book and pay Babes rate.”
“My heart really goes out to babes wodumo and whatever is going on in her life. We have a culture of kicking a dog when it’s down and almost celebrating people’s downfalls. I really pray she has people that love her and will carry her out of this mess,” says Lorna Maseko. The artist wrote three responses to the public reaction towards her body. In one tweet she says, “Pray for me.” In another response along with her viral image she says, “Be yourself.” Later on in a third post she says “People will still judge me when I’m dead.” Based on the responses she sent, people believed that Babes Wodumo was hacked again.
