WESTERN CAPE – The eradication of drug abuse and trafficking as well as efforts to prevent it from entering our provincial borders are yielding excellent results following yet another hefty sentence that was imposed on two drug mules earlier this week.
The 36-year-old Mzuvukile Mabunga and 28-year-old Bundu Gobile, both from Mtabankulu, appeared in the Beaufort West regional court on Monday, 24 August 2020 on a charge of dealing in drugs (Mandrax tablets) following their initial arrest during July 2017. They were then found in possession of 640kg of compressed dagga to the estimated value of R1.28m. They were both sentenced to sixteen (16) years imprisonment of which three (3) years were suspended for five (5) years.
