Black Twitter Doesn’t Believe That The Students Are The Ones Who Burnt The Lecture Halls. Students at the University of KwaZulu-Natal have been protesting for some time.
Students at the University of KwaZulu-Natal have been protesting for some time. Their protests are still ongoing. The students have reportedly burnt down the HIV and Aids support centre at the school. The students are now accused of burning lecture venues at the school. The event has been happening all over the University of KwaZulu-Natal campuses such as Westville and Pietermaritzburg.
It is alleged that the protests began due to the student representative council tertiary institution’s management not being on the same page in regards to the problems of student debt. Three buildings were burned down from Sunday to Monday, according to Ashton Bodrick, the university’s spokesperson. Some people on Twitter don’t believe that the students are the ones that set the areas on fire.
One tweep says, “As a Ukzn student I know very well students would never burn buildings never!! The private security company is burning the campus down for their contracts to be extended…Mi7 is burning Ukzn not students…” One tweep says, “Security company burned that building cause they wanted their contract to be extended and management want a tender to build that building [that’s] why we wont see the footage of someone who did this. Now they pushing the blame to students.” One tweep says, “Mi7 security must take responsibility for the fire at PMB there was no student on-site when the fire started. Only [they] were seen entering and exiting the venue before the fire. Students we alerted of the fire when it became apparent what was happening…”
