Black Twitter In Outrage Over A Picture Of Uyinene Mrwetyana Supposedly Being On The Global Citizen Emails. It has been over a month since the late Uyinene Mrwetyana was found to have been murdered by a post office worker.
It has been over a month since the late Uyinene Mrwetyana was found to have been murdered by a post office worker. People have been remembering the University of Cape Town student. Her family has recently asked people to not use the 19-year-old’s images for any promotion. Some people, however, claim to have received emails about a Ricky Rick event from Global Citizen, the image included Uyinene Mrwetyana dancing with Ricky.
Some of the tweeps were infuriated by the supposed email that was sent to some of the people. One tweep says, “Global citizen has 3 articles on Uyinene’s passing, on their website. They should have made means to ask the family whether they may continue using that image of her at groove. It’s not difficult. It shouldn’t be.” One tweep says, “I’m sure global citizen knows how [Uyinene] passed on and how her death is still new to mainly the family and close friends and us South Africans. They have lots of pictures to use for their marketing but no because they want sales they had to use this specific photo for their sales.”
Some tweeps let it be known that the image was used before the late Uyinene passed away. One tweep says, “That picture is on the Global Citizen app under Rewards…It’s been there for a very long time way before Uyinene passed on.” One tweep says, “I’ve entered that global citizen competition and they used Uyinene’s photo a long time ago even before her disappearance.” One tweep says, “I get that you are all upset about Global Citizens using this image of Uyinene but y’all need to calm down because this picture has been there for a couple of months now, way before her passing so please and anyway the picture has been changed.”
