Black Twitter Reacts To Mara Louw’s Statement About Shona Ferguson Supposedly Saying She’s Too Expensive. Actress Mara Louw was invited by Power FM to be part of a panel of creatives to talk about the state of the creative industry.
Actress Mara Louw was invited by Power FM to be part of a panel of creatives to talk about the state of the creative industry. The actress was alongside other individuals such as Mbali Hlope and Nambitha Mpumlwana. The actress spoke about a time when she used to get R65 000 a month in 2003 from the government but Shona Ferguson supposedly felt as if the amount was too much.
“In 2003, I was earning R65 000 a month. Now I have to be told by Shona who is a child that I am too expensive,” says Mara Louw. Some of black Twitter didn’t like what the actress said. One tweep says, “So what must Shona do if Mara louw wants money they don’t have? She’s not working for government in 2003 anymore. She must just retire.” One tweep says, “Can someone just tell Mara Louw to start her own production company and pay for actors millions…seeing that she’s vocal instead of just declining.”
One tweep says, “Mra Louw is so wrong for calling Shona a child.” One tweep says, “Ageism is so gross. Mara Louw has been in the entertainment industry longer than Shona has been alive but where’s her production company? That “child” was in a position to give HER a job.” Some tweeps stood up for Mara Louw. One tweep says, “A veteran, talented actress like Mara Louw has earned the right to be expensive! Paying her the same amount as an entry level artist is beyond exploitation…” One tweep says, “Tyler Perry would pay Mara Louw her worth, exploitation is exploitation bottom and klaar”
