On Tuesday it was the season premiere of Mzansi Magic’s reality show ‘Mnakwethu’, hosted by Musa Mseleku. The show is about people who want to tell the people they love that they would like to have a polygamous relationship. In the first episode it didn’t go down quite well.
The man who wanted to be in a polygamous was 26-year-old Nhlanhla Sibisi from KwaZulu-Natal. He wanted to tell his wife that he wants to take a second wife. The man has been with his wife since they met in high school. The woman he wanted to take as his second wife met him at her family event. When they went to tell the wife that he wants to take a second wife there was chaos. She agreed to him having a second wife but she didn’t seem to make it simple for the woman when she was talking.
The woman and the wife had a bit of back and forth. The woman went on to say that she was hoping that the wife would not be in the same location as them, the wife went on to say that she travels because of her job. The woman who was supposed to be a second wife ended up saying that she doesn’t think that it would work out. However, the man’s reason as to why he wants a polygamy was not liked by Black Twitter. One tweep says, “This 12 year old is requesting isithembu because he can’t iron???” One tweep says, “Did he just say if you have paid lobola for a woman you have bought her??? Can’t believe this madness…” One tweep says, “How do you take a second wife when your bedroom, lounge, bathroom and kitchen are in one room. To hell maan!!! Rubbish and dust…”
