Black Twitter Reacts To The Language Barrier On Date My Family. Yesterday, the third family on the show was the one that had social media going crazy.
Date My Family always has a moment that makes social media go crazy. Yesterday, the third family on the show was the one that had social media going crazy. Hazel (the bachelorette) had a huge problem with her suitor, Xolani Zwane’s family. This was because of a huge language barrier between her and Xolani’s family. They were happy with her until she told them that she only speaks English. Noxolo, the friend of the suitor, says that the language barrier was going to be a huge problem because the family doesn’t know English.
When Hazel met her first suitor Rofhiwa’s family she had a problem with the grandmother. The grandmother asked her if she goes to church. She replied to her saying she goes to church sometimes. The grandmother told her that she needs to go to church every Sunday. Hazel couldn’t stand having the grandmother in the family date because she felt a restricted. Hazel asked if Rofhiwa goes to strip clubs, which the younger family members tried to brush off. The grandmother didn’t like the girl’s naughty questions that much.
When she met Abongile’s family she was asked what she needs in a relationship. She says she expects romantic moments from her partner. She was then asked if she prefers her partner always paying the bill. She then replied saying that she might pay the bill depending on her mood on that specific day. Her statement didn’t make Abongile and her family feel good about her. However, Hazel was more relaxed with Abongile’s family.
The woman ended up choosing Abongile as her suitable suitor. She seemed to have a good time with her family as compared to the other two families. She liked the young generation instead of the other two families that included older people. Abongile thought that she wouldn’t come back because she didn’t have most of the characteristics that Hazel wanted. Tweeps were cracking at the language barrier between Xolani’s family and Hazel.
One tweep posted an image of a man looking for something under a mattress. The image was accompanied by a caption saying, “The 3rd family looking for English to reply to Hazel’s questions.” Another tweep said the uncle just concluded to eating because the language barrier was intense. One tweep also recited the conversation between one of Xolani’s friends and Hazel. The tweep recalls Hazel asking if Xolani can cook, the friend replied saying that he knows about God.
