Buffalo Souljah Asked Africans To Boycott ‘The Lion King’. Some of the artist that were on the album includes Burna Boy and Wizkid from Nigeria, and Busiswa and Moonchild Sanelly from South Africa among others.
Zimbabwean Dancehall artist Buffalo Souljah is asking Africans to boycott ‘The Lion King’ in order to make the producers aware that there is more talent in Africa besides South Africa and Nigeria. The musician’s rant comes after it was seen that most of the artists that are featured on the Beyonce curated album, ‘The Gift’, are mostly from Nigeria and South Africa. Some of the artist that were on the album includes Burna Boy and Wizkid from Nigeria, and Busiswa and Moonchild Sanelly from South Africa among others.
The dancehall artist slammed the film’s producers for supposedly ignoring 52 other African nations and keeping their concentration on South Africa and Nigeria. Buffalo Souljah says, “We are almost in 2020 and still facing inequality ‘Imagine having 54 children who are all talented and yet you continue to favour the 2 and you expect the rest to Kumbaya and celebrate them when they know they also got what it takes ‘As a son of Mugabe I analyse everything and criticize…” He went on to say that the two countries have been overshadowing other countries.
“Zimbabwe has always been overshadowed by South Africa @beyonce #thelionking must know Africa is not South Africa and Nigeria and stop this inequality since the origin of the story is Tanzania It would have been to have Swahili artists like @diamondplatnumz @victoriakimani @vanessamdee it’s like making a shaka zulu movie and have Afrobeat soundtracks ‘This is clear that the African countries who are not your target market Afcon covers all teams in Africa atleast try balance it take 2 or 3 artists from Sadc countries east Africa and west Africa #Boycottthelionking its such platforms that help equalize all African artists we all have great artist…”
