Candise Modiselle Recalls Fan Asking Her For A R40K Donation. Actors and actresses, along with other creatives, have gone on public platforms to tell people about the payments they receive for the work they do.
Actors and actresses, along with other creatives, have gone on public platforms to tell people about the payments they receive for the work they do. The public announcements of how the stars are treated started an argument that has been going on for months in South Africa, with some stars quitting their roles. Candice Modiselle also thrashed the idea of the stars having lots of money.
The actress and presenter made people aware that celebs don’t really get the amount of money that fans think they do. She shared her thoughts about what people think about celebs and money using an experience that she had with a young lady who asked her if she could donate R40 000. She says that she even had to read the numbers twice.
Candice Modiselle says, “How much money do you guys think we make??? This sweet girl just asked me for a donation of R40k. I had to read the figure twice because bathong my lovie, 40 tao [from where]?” Fellow creative and actress Zenande Mfenyana shared the same sentiments. “It amazes me daily the amounts I get asked to donate…,” says Zenande Mfenyana. Fellow actor Muzi Vilakazi says, “I have to repeat this to family, friends all the time [there’s no money in Actors it’s in producers] & channel, the calling is the only thing keeping us in those streets.”
