CAPE TOWN – On Tuesday, 17 November 2020, members of Public Order Policing received a complaint from a vehicle tracking company of a possible stolen motor vehicle and that the vehicle is still in the vicinity of Capricorn area.
At approximately 09:30, the white Volkswagen Polo Classic was spotted in Plum Street, Capricorn, Muizenberg after which the members stopped the vehicle and it was ascertained that it had been stolen earlier the morning, at approximately 01:00, in Neville Reilly Street Vrygrond.
The driver and passenger of the vehicle, aged 39 and 32, both male residents of Vrygrond, were arrested on charges of possession of stolen property and the theft of a motor vehicle.
The two suspects were detained at Muizenberg SAPS and will appear in the Muizenberg Magistrate’s Court this morning.
In an unrelated matter, on Tuesday 17 November 2020, at about 16:45, members attached to Worcester SAPS Crime Prevention Unit were busy with intensive patrols in Riverview, Worcester when they saw a person running when he noticed the marked vehicle.
The members gave chase on foot and caught the suspect and found him in possession of 975 mandrax tablets to an estimated street value of R39 000. A 38-year-old male was arrested on charges of possession of drugs, and appeared in the Worcester Magistrate’s Court today, 18 November 2020.
