Case Reportedly Opened Against Student Who Hit A Fellow Student At Kempton Park School. A video of a student hitting a fellow student at a Kempton Park school made rounds on the internet on Tuesday.
A video of a student hitting a fellow student at a Kempton Park school made rounds on the internet on Tuesday. The student was seen slamming the other student to the ground and beating him up in what seems to be a bathroom. The student was fighting over his girlfriend.
The boy asked the other student what was his issue with his girlfriend. The other learner replied by saying, “What did I do to your girlfriend?” The other learner told the one who was beating him up to calm down after he slammed him on the ground. Even though the video made rounds on Tuesday night, Gauteng MEC of Education Panyaza Lesufi says the instance occurred last week Wednesday. He also states that the school governing body was on it and he got a detailed report of the event.
The learner is set to undergo disciplinary hearing on Wednesday night. The MEC says the school has allowed them to write in separate locations as they are both minors. “Because they are minors, we have allowed them to write exams in separate rooms so that they don’t mix and meet again until all processes are concluded. We really believe the school is safe and this is an isolated incident that we have attended to. The importance of the disciplinary hearing is to deal with it as quickly as possible,” says Panyaza Lesufi.
The principal of the Kempton Park school, Francois de Kock, says they are disappointed by the students. He also adds they will work in ensuring that these types of instances from happening in the future. The principal says, “Every learner must feel safe to scome to school. What happened was very unfortunate and we will work hard to curb future incidents so that the school grows from strength to strength.” A case was opened against the student that was beating the fellow student, according to the Gauteng department on Wednesday. Lesufi says the parent of one of the fellow schoolmates went to open the case at a police station.
