Alleged Cash In Transit Robbery Gang Arrested

Zimasa Jubase (32) is expected to appear at the Mount Ayliff Magistrate’s Court today for his alleged involvement in a cash-in-transit heist that took place in August, 2019 in Flagstaff in the Eastern Cape.

Jubase was arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit in Mthatha last week Wednesday and he subsequently appeared in court two days after his arrest and today he will be applying for bail.

It is alleged that on 12 August 2019, two Security vehicles were on route to Flagstaff when  they were attacked by about six suspects in two vehicles.  The suspects fled with a substantial amount of cash and three firearms. Investigations are still continuing and more arrests are imminent.

Meanwhile, Alex Pule (46) is also expected to appear before the Alexandria Magistrate’s Court today for his alleged involvement in a May 2018 attempted cash in transit robbery.  It is alleged a Security vehicle was on route from Grahamstown to Port Elizabeth when it was attacked by two vehicles however the driver managed to evade the robbers. 

The Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit of the Hawks were tasked with investigating the attempted robbery.  It took the team to Cape Town last week Friday where they managed to arrest Jubase.  He appeared at the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court.
