Peter Sibanyoni is the man who normally transports the learner who was allegedly kidnapped from Queens High School in Johannesburg on Monday. The learner was discovered in Soweto alive on Wednesday after his missing case was publicised by the department of education in Gauteng. The 53-year-old Peter Sibanyoni says the father drops off the learner in the mornings and he picks him up from school.
“It’s not unusual that he would remain. He came to me and told me he’s not leaving with me because he had to go to sports, and I left,” says Peter Sibanyoni. The driver says normally under the circumstances, the dad would fetch him. The driver then got a call at about 9pm to tell him that the child didn’t come home at the time. The 53-year-old was shocked. Peter Sibanyoni says the school went through the CCTV recordings and saw the learner and his friend when they catched and e-hailing cab.
Anne Pratt a resident from the school’s area says she didn’t see anything out of the ordinary on Monday. She went on to say that she found out about the learner on Facebook. She says the place was safe. Atlas Ntloana, a former general worker of the school, says he has never seen or heard of something the same. He says kids are normally free in the area. “This place is not bad; the kids normally walk about freely. I only heard this morning, but I literally live opposite the school at the retirement village. It’s a very strange thing. The child got together with his parents on Wednesday at the Maponya Mall.
