In partnership with the Department of Community Safety and the Youth Crime Prevention Desk, the Duduza police conducted a fruitful awareness against the Hijacking of local taxis in Duduza and adjacent areas.
The awareness was aimed at addressing the raising number of hijacking incidents involving the local taxi operators.
Members from the Department of Community Safety, the Youth Crime Prevention Desk and the Duduza police engaged and sensitized local taxi drivers, passengers to be vigilant and alert when operating especially at sunset. They were also warned to work with the police instead of evading police at check points.
The general public was also sensitized to denounce Gender-Based Violence by reporting any incidents of violence
The campaign was appreciated by the taxis and passengers with more than 500 pamphlets with safety tips distributed and will be an ongoing campaign in all areas affected.
