DURBAN – Dundee police members responded to a business robbery at Dundee yesterday, 15 November 2020 at 13:15, where a group of males entered the business premises and posed as customers.
At gunpoint, the suspects took cash, two laptops, clothing and various cellphones. One of the employees managed to alert police and when the police arrived at the scene there was a shoot-out. Two of the suspects sustained a gunshot wound on the left leg and the other sustained an injury on the left arm during the shoot-out. The two injured suspects were treated, discharged and were detained at Dundee Police Station. A total of three suspects, aged between 25 and 28 were placed under arrest for business robbery.
An illegal firearm, cash, laptops and cellphones were seized from the arrested suspects. The arrested suspects are expected to appear before the Dundee Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, 17 November 2020 on charges of robbery and possession of illegal firearm.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula welcomed the arrest of the business robbers. “This arrest proves that police are everywhere to tackle all type of crimes this festive season,” he said.
