DURBAN – Last night, a multi-disciplinary team acted on information about a vehicle transporting dagga from Paulpietersburg towards Vryheid. The said vehicle was spotted on the Stilwater Road in the Vryheid area and a chase ensued. The team managed to intercept the vehicle on the Vryheid and Dundee Road.
Upon searching the vehicle, 11 bags containing dagga weighing 705kg was found. The 39-year-old driver was placed under arrest for possession of dagga. The estimated street value of the confiscated dagga is R2 million. The suspect is appearing at the Vryheid Magistrate’s Court today.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula thanked the police officers for their continued collaboration in the fight the drug scourge in the province.
