Two armed robbery suspects were put behind bars within hours after allegedly robbing a 40-year-old man last night, 10 May 2022 while he was waiting at a bus terminus in Nile Road in Greenacres.
It is alleged that at about 21:50, three unknown males accosted him and pointed him with a firearm. The complainant started running and as he fell, the suspects assaulted him and robbed him of his laptop and cellphone.
Anti-Gang Unit members immediately assisted and a house in Jameson Street was searched. Three males were found at the house. The firearm, which was a replica, was found in possession of one male. The complainant identified two of the males.
Two suspects, aged 23 and 27 years, were detained on a charge of armed robbery. The stolen items were not recovered. Police are following up on further information relating to the stolen property and the third suspect.
The arrested suspects are expected to appear in the Gqeberha magistrate court on Thursday, 12 May 2022 on the respective charge.
