When the driver noticed the police members, he alighted from vehicle, went and fiddled with bonnet of the car. When he started to walk away from the vehicle, he was followed by the members. He was stopped in Durban Road and searched. A 9mm pistol with ammunition was found in his possession. The serial number was filed off.
The 26-year-old male was detained on a charge of possession of a prohibited firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
He will appear in the Gelvandale magistrates’ court on Monday, 7 December 2020.
