SAPS Uitenhage detectives have implemented the 72-hour activation plan in an effort to track, trace and arrest three suspects who allegedly robbed a business in Caledon Street, Uitenhage last night, Monday, 12 October 2020.
It is alleged that at about 20:30, three suspects (of which two were armed) entered the pub and threatened the complainant and co-workers. The victims were ordered to lie down on the floor whilst being searched. The suspects took items from the employees and an undisclosed amount of cash from the till. As the suspects exited, they abducted two of the employees (a male and female) and fled in an unknown vehicle.
A task team was immediately established to search for the suspects and the abducted persons. The 38-year-old female victim was dropped off in an unknown street in Kwanobuhle. She managed to make her way to the local police station in Kwanobuhle and reported the incident. Her other male co-worker, aged 28-year-old was still missing and a case of business robbery and abduction was opened.
This morning, Tuesday, 13 October 2020 at about 08:00 police were informed about a body of a male who was found in K. Mothlante Street, Area 11 in Kwanobuhle. He sustained gunshot wounds to the head. He was identified as the abducted male taken in the armed robbery, the previous night before. A case of murder is also under investigation. Next-of-kin is yet to be notified.
