Police arrested a 43-year-old male suspect for murder of a 34-year-old woman on Saturday, 14 November 2020.
It is alleged that the suspect visited the murder victim on Friday, 13 November 2020 at Ndakeni Locality, Ngcingwane Village at Dutywa. He slept over.
On Saturday, 14 November 2020 at about 08:50, the two had a quarrel and the suspect allegedly drew out his firearm and shot the woman several times. She succumbed to the bullet wounds.
The suspect was arrested at Butterworth on 14 November and his firearm was confiscated. He is expected to appear at Dutywa Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 16 November 2020 facing a murder charge.
Acting Eastern Cape Police Provincial Commissioner, Major General Thembisile Patekile commended the Dutywa Police for their swift action in arresting the suspect. He said: “Police condemn the brutal murder of the defenceless women and children by senseless men who were supposed to protect them.”
