EASTERN CAPE – On Sunday, 01 November 2020, Mount Road detectives arrested the taxi driver, Lemeck Mudzingwa(22) and charged him for defeating the ends of justice and for contravention of the Commissioner of Justice and Oaths Act 16/1963 Section 9 – making a false statement under oath.
As investigations unfolded, it is alleged that Mudzingwa knew the deceased person who was identified by his family on Saturday afternoon. The deceased is Lunga Jacobs (21) from Motherwell. It is further alleged that Mudzingwa picked up Jacobs and his friend in Central and took them to Newton Park.
Investigations are still continuing.
Mudzingwa appeared in the Port Elizabeth magistrates’ court on Monday, 2 November and his next court appearance is today, 04 November 2020 for a formal bail application.
